EDMOND NICOLAS

Works by Nicolas are extremely rare. The main group of his known works, consisting of paper negatives and albumen prints, was in the collection of Andre Jammes. His salt prints are even rarer. Besides the present print, there are some in the collection of the Bibliotheque nationale, Paris.

Nicolas was based in Senlis, where he worked as an ironmonger, and his oeuvre is characterised by the overworking of his paper negatives, including the use of painting and stencilling.
