Oskar Werner (Jules), Henri Serre (Jim) and Jeanne Moreau (Catherine) filming the now iconic race between Catherine, in male drag, and her two paramours across a Parisian footbridge in Jules et Jim (Jules and Jim).
Directed by Francois Truffaut, the film was based on a semi-autobiographical novel by Henri Pierre Roché, which Truffaut had come across in a second-hand Parisian book store.
Chronicling some 20 years in the lives of its three central characters, starting just before the First World War and ending at the time of the Great Depression and the rise of Hitler, the film charts the menage à trois between friends Catherine, Jules and Jim.
