Salt print, lightly albumenised, mounted on card.
Stamped with the artist's signature lower right beneath the image.
An image of the first-century Roman arch at Orange, a site Baldus had already photographed in 1851 on a government-sponsored project entitled La Mission Héliographique, or photographic survey, and again in 1853. Through repeat visits Baldus honed a mature style that would bring him recognition and create a new standard for architectural photography.
