Early salt prints by Gustave le Gray are extremely rare and few exist outside institutions.
The present picture is especially rare in being untrimmed and comes from the collection of Henri le Secq.
One other print is known, a very faded impression in the Bibliotheque nationale de France, where it is entitled Entrée du chde Fontainebleau, porte Dauphine and dated 1851.
Early salt prints by Gustave le Gray are extremely rare and few exist outside institutions.
